The Pier 34 Show was the first exhibition to focus on an extraordinary experiment in New York City’s history when dozens of artists illegally took over an enormous waterfront structure at the end of Canal Street and used it as a laboratory for murals, installations, and performances. The Pier 34 Show included approximately 75 works of photographs, paintings, drawings and sculptures by artists associated with the site, including Jane Bauman, Mike Bidlo, David Finn, John Fekner, Jean Foos, Luis Frangella, Judy Glantzman, Peter Hujar, Rob Jones, Marisela La Grave, Michael Ottersen, Dirk Rowntree, Andreas Sterzing, Betty Tomkins, David Wojnarowicz, and Rhonda Zwillinger.

The Pier 34 Show was curated by Jonathan Weinberg and organized by the Hunter College Art Galleries. The exhibition opened September 29th, 2016 at the 205 Hudson Street Gallery (entrance on Canal Street), at the college’s Tribeca campus in Manhattan.
